Make Up Artist

Make Up Artist

In recent years, more males have ventured into the beauty industry including being a make-up artist. If you enjoy meeting different people every day and gets the oomph of making women look prettier and feel more confident about themselves, this could be the job for you.

Manning a make-up counter, you need to ensure sufficient stock and hygiene. Your job is to provide advice and suggestions on skin-care, make-up and the various products available. You should get your customers to try your products so that they can see for themselves the effectiveness of your products.

Keeping up with the latest trends is a must for a make-up artist. This can be done through research and reading fashion magazines to learn make-up techniques. Constant experiments with colours also enhances one's skills.

Paper qualification and experience are both equally important. Remuneration, however, may be lower if one does not have a certificate. For those who are interested in this field, it is better to sign up for a bridal or professional make-up course that cover day, night as well as stage make-up. From here, you will learn the different types of make-up techniques, for example, how to draw eyebrows to suit different occasions. Once you have a good grasp of the basic techniques, you can then branch out to specialise in a particular type of make-up if you want to.

One important trait of a make-up artist is patience as a person who is easily agitated normally could not produce a good work. It takes time for one to refine their skills. A good communication skill is also necessary to find out your customers' needs and to provide good suggestions to them.

Prospects for this job are still good as being beautiful is an important part of everyone's life.
